Volunteer animal care - The Netherlands

We are looking for long- term volunteers at our Chimpansee Complex and Primates Team

Minimum 1x per week from 08.30 am to 17.10 pm. Availability minimum of 6 months.

AAP Animal Advocacy and Protection is a European animal welfare organization dedicated to the well-being of exotic animals. Our mission is to end their suffering by rescuing animals in need and advocating for better laws and regulations.
As an animal caretaker volunteer, you'll directly contribute to a better life for our special animals. In the Primate Team, you'll work with rhesus monkeys, barbary macaques, Japanese macaques, vervet monkeys, and baboons, among others. At the Chimpanzee Complex, the name says it all: here you'll work with chimpanzees.

Your role
You'll work under the supervision of an experienced animal caretaker and focus primarily on cleaning in and around the animal enclosures (which makes up 60% of your daily workload). You'll also create enrichment for the animals, feed them, help with setting up the enclosures, and perform minor technical maintenance. You'll also report on any details regarding the animals' nutrition, behavior, and health.
