Volunteer/intern position in our Primate department

Minimum period:

• Do you have your own accommodation? Minimum 3 months, 2 days per week.
• Would you like to make use of our free accommodation? Minimum 3 months, 5 days per week.

Your role

We are looking for a volunteer to help us in the Primate department where we focus on the physical and mental recovery of the recue primates. In this department we have a variety of primate and ape species like, chimpanzee and barbary macaque. You will work under the supervision of an experienced animal caretaker and will mainly focus on the cleaning activities in and around the animal enclosures (this is 70% of the daily work). In addition, you will make enrichment for the animals, help with the furnishing of the accommodation and with minor technical maintenance. You will also help with reporting peculiarities regarding the animals’ nutrition, behavior and health. You will work according strict protocols.

What we ask for

• You have reached the minimum age of 18 (maximum age 67).
• You like to work hard and you have affinity with the objectives of AAP.
• You have a basic knowledge of spoken and written English.
• You are in good physical health.
• You are accurate and can work independently as well as in a (fluctuating) team.
• You are available for a minimum of 3 months.
